A post~ Finally! But it isn't the usual posts about makeup, fashion or art. This time around it's about studying.
I promise you, you'll learn from this. I think :D
Lately, I have been studying nonstop for school. I have an upcoming Japanese proficiency test this December, I have to read plays by Shakespeare and know the story by heart, read about international law and make sure that I can recite in class.
My professor is not the kindest one in the world. BUT he can be. I failed his class before. Now, I am taking another class under him. I know that it's difficult if he is your prof. But I was wrong. With the right effort, I am now able to cope with the discussions in class. After midterm exams, he called my attention and he wanted to talk to me. I was thinking: Oh my, I failed the test for sure. /insert frustrated face here/
Instead, he told me: I'm very impressed with the way you answer in class and your test results. How were you able to do it. /more things talked about here/ You know that what I am saying is only the icing on the cake. You should be the happiest since this was the result of all your efforts.
HALLELUJAH~!
See? It's possible. Let me share the things that I did:
1. Find your comfort zone.
Know where you are most comfortable when studying. Do you prefer a quiet room? noisy? bright or dark? On the bed or seated on a chair? In my case, I like playing music while studying. Out of desperation I tried to look for a playlist for studying in youtube. I found one! It's called studymusicproject, I think. You could type "music for studying" in youtube and it will appear. At first I thought it was too slow and it will make me sleepy. I was wrong! It was effective. But maybe a different genre will work for you!
2. Notes, notes, notes.
Make notes ahead of class. I base my notes from the reading materials and guess what? It makes things easier for me to understand the lesson and to recite as well. I prefer notes over highlighting now. It's worth the effort. Promise.
3. Read two days ahead.
Yes, it's in between cramming and being too early to study. I found this easier since if I read earlier than that or too late than that, I would normally forget what I read.
4. REST
If you're tired, just rest. Studying while tired would be not good. Your effort will be put to waste since you will most likely forget what you have read.
5. Reward~
Reward yourself after an hour of studying. Let's say, read a book or watch youtube videos for about 20 minutes. Don't go beyond the time you have already planned. Learn to control your time. It helps~
That's it for now~ That is what I have uncovered the past term. Finals week is fast approaching and I need to study and study so I would graduate on time. So I hope you guys will have a blast studying~!
