Daily Life: A Week in a Post

IT has been a few days since I last checked in and wrote something. This time around, I'll tell you how my week has been. Last Monday, we travelled for twelve hours by car to Manila from the province. I was gonna meet my aunt to watch Lady Gaga's concert: The Born This Way Ball.

Heehee, fail panorama. I used my cellphone (Samsung Corby II) This was around 8pm. The front act was playing dance music while waiting for the Arena to be packed. We were seated at the General Admissions since my aunt was just curious on how the show will go. She paid for my ticket too!
The concert was quite controversial here. There were rallies and protests before and during the concert!
I find it funny since Lady G had a concert here way back in 2009.

Her stage set up was a big castle which opens up likea dollhouse. On the right photo, she was wearing something like paper doily? I'm not soooo sure. But I am sure that the concert was awesome! Tons of people wore their own costumes and headpieces. Too bad I wasn't able to prepare anything.

Recently, I have been cooking for the family. Our maid got sick and my parents would be away on a vacation. Mom prepared the creamy dory but I told her I would be the one to cook since I promised dad I'd cook Japanese food. So instead of the typical chicken karaage, I made dory karaage. Karaage (空揚げ)is the Japanese way of deep frying food. The batter was very crispy and light. The fish was not oily at all. When I ate it, I placed it on top of a crispy multi-grain bread with Japanese mayonnaise, ketchup and lime. Mom's version is mayo, lime and home made guava jam. Guava jam?! Yup, it gave the sweetness to the dish.

I also made the House's Purin L mix instant pudding. The instructions were in Nihongo so I only understood a few. I followed my instincts and cooked it. For those wondering how it is made, here:

In a pan, add the pudding mix with 400ml milk. I used fresh milk. Over medium heat dissolve the powder and let it simmer. Whisk it often so that the milk would not curdle.  After, pour it in a container and chill.
For the syrup, add 20-30ml of warm water. It will smell like coffee but it's actually burnt sugar. Stir and add it in the hardened pudding.

This morning, I made french toast and sauteed hungarian sausages with caramelized onions. It was the first time for me to make french toast. So it wasn't perfect. It wasn't sweet because I added just a little sugar. I'll make another one soon and I'll take a picture of it!
Today's lunch was Korean pork bulgogi with onion, red bellpeppers and sesame seeds. We bought the marinaded one to try. Hee, we usually do this if we are too timid to cook and wait for the marinating time. It was okay, the one we bought was quite sweet so I had to add more light soy sauce. Tonight I will add noodles to the left overs. And it will now be called chapchae! I'll post a photo of tonight's future dinner.

Yesterday, classes started in our university. I saw my friends and was suuuuuper happy! We were classmates for two subjects on tuesdays and thursdays. We could eat lunch together since all of our classes end at the same time! But on mondays and wednesdays, I have only one class with them. And my sched is waaay crappy on that day. First class at 8am to 9.30, second class at 1pm-2.30 and third class at 4.20-5.50. See? But that way I have time to read my lessons. I had 200++ pages photocopied for one subject.

Maybe tonight I will post something about my trip to Japan. I think I should blog about it so that I could remember all the fun things I did there as an ambassador.

See you!
Love, Steph.
